I've formerly been a proponent of buying some basic kitchen utensils from Wal-Mart, DollarTree or similar bargain stores. Spatulas, for instance, are one of those utensils that I always use, and I previously believed normal wear and tear involved warping and even, melting. But after using these silicone spatulas, my world has changed.

If you've ever used an electric griddle, you'll know that those griddles get HOT. You'll never want to let your child near them unattended, never mind using a plastic spatula. I made that mistake when I first purchased a griddle and was left with melted plastic on my shiny, new Teflon griddle. Let's just say, it was not a good look.

These spatulas come in two sizes - 12" long (3" wide) and 13" long (4" wide). They are made of silicone with a flexible metal skeleton, allowing you to easily flip pancakes or fish without ruining your meal. The high quality silicone allows the spatula to hit the hot griddle or pan without melting. Let's face it, no one wants plastic skid marks on their cookware.

Cleaning the spatulas are a breeze. Normally, I just take them and throw them in my dishwasher with the rest of my dishes. These are the only spatulas I use now, and I honestly cannot remember ever having to scrub them down. With cheaper spatulas, it's very easy to get melted cheese stuck to them, especially when making a quesadilla or omelet. With these silicone spatulas, the most I've ever done is glaze over it with a soapy sponge if i didn't feel like waiting for the dishwasher. Super easy to clean.

Now, let's talk about the cons. There is only one, really. The spatula is good until it wears out. When the spatula "wears out", the silicone will typically start breaking at the tip by where it meets the metal skeleton underneath. If you're looking for a "forever" spatula, you'll likely want one that is 100% stainless steel without any silicone, but then it would not be safe to use on most non-stick coatings. I have to replace my spatula ever so often due to normal wear-and-tear, but it otherwise does a great job. I have no qualms about that.

Overall, I've been using this spatula for several years and find them extremely versatile, easy to use and the only ones I use on the daily.

Pricey, but for a reason. The only pans I'll purchase going forward.

When you take this product out of its package, you know you're in for something different. When you hear "non-stick", you likely think "teflon". This pan is no comparison. The HexClad has as a special metal coating that allows you to use metal utensils. It has a hybrid design to allow for a nonstick pan with the benefits of cooking on stainless. If you get food or debris on the exterior, it’s easier to clean than normal nonstick or stainless pan.

Now is this pan perfect? Of course not. Some people think you can crack an egg on it and it will slide right off. This is not 100% true. Based on my experience, you still need butter or oil to truly take advantage of the nonstick functions.

Overall, I've been using this cookware now for a few months and find them extremely versatile, easy to use and my preferred pan. If you are going to spend the money on this pan, be sure to splurge on the one with the lid - it's worth it.

I have this one and bought it with the lid.

...but this is my next investment.
